The Diary of a Buddhist Missionary in Indianapolis

December 12, 2009

June 2

Meditated.

Talked to some children about the Buddha.

Simple lunch and dinner.

Meditated.

June 3

Meditated.

Went door-to-door with the Sutras.

No one opened.

Oh well.

Simple lunch and dinner.

Meditated.

June 4

Meditated.

Talked about reincarnation with some Christians.

Still no converts.

Simple lunch and dinner.

Meditated.

June 5

Mediated.

Breakfast with Zoroastrian missionaries.

Bought giant Colts foam-finger for my teacher.

Lost giant Colts foam-finger on bus.

Felt sad.

Remembered teachings on suffering.

Felt better.

Simple lunch and dinner.

Meditated.

June 6

Meditated.

Door to door again.

An old woman invited me in.

We talked about the lotus and the dharma.

She said she’d think about it.

Simple lunch and dinner.

Meditated.

June 7

Meditated.

Suffered.

Got over it.

Had some hot wings.

More Christians with questions about Salvation and Hell and reincarnation.

Spoke with a young woman at the bus stop, who gave me a sip of her coffee.

Still no converts.

Indiana is very frustrating.

Simple dinner.

Meditated.
